The lecture will focus on the economics of investment in regulated industries. The first part of the lecture will be devoted to the theoretical papers on investment and regulation, focusing on the role of regulatory opportunism and the adoption of incentive schemes on incentives to invest as well as on the transition from an "old" to a "new" technology. We will then continue with recent empirical evidences on the relationship between regulatory incentives and investment in selected network industries, mainly energy and telecom industries.
