In this workshop, I will:

• define the common features of the economic approach to researching managers
• organize the economic research on managers into those that theorize and empirically conceive of managers as "managers of people" vs "managers of projects," and situate those categories within new empirical data from LinkedIn, the theoretical literature, and the empirical literature
• review different ways papers have measured the productivity of managers using different methods
• I'll also be reviewing work on identifying who would be a good manager.
